Ma Boli Center at THAAP is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the mother tongues of the Indus Valley. We believe that a language is not just a tool for communication, but a vessel that carries the unique history, folklore, and worldview of its people. When a language fades, we lose centuries of indigenous wisdom, poetry, and scientific observations of nature. Our mission is to restore the pride and dignity of regional languages—such as Punjabi, Seraiki, Sindhi, and others—ensuring they remain vibrant and living mediums for future generations.
Our work at the Ma Boli Center goes beyond mere advocacy; we engage in the active scientific documentation of oral traditions. This involves recording folk songs, proverbs, and “Virsas” (heritage stories) directly from the elders in rural communities. By creating a digital and written repository of these linguistic nuances, THAAP provides a bridge between the traditional past and the modern digital era. This research is essential for linguists and educators who seek to understand the evolution of regional dialects and their impact on our collective psyche.
Conducting sessions in schools to remove the "stigma" often associated with speaking one's mother tongue in formal settings.
Supporting students who wish to pursue their PhDs or Master’s theses on the linguistic heritage of Pakistan.
Partnering with international linguistic bodies to bring Pakistan's regional languages to the global academic map.
