The Seeds of Discourse

THAAP’s history began not as a formal office, but as a series of intense intellectual gatherings in Lahore. In the early 2000s, a group of historians, architects, and sociologists led by Prof. Pervaiz Vandal and Prof. Sajida Haider Vandal identified a critical gap in Pakistan’s academic landscape: the lack of a "People's History." The Trust for History, Art, and Architecture of Pakistan was formally established to fill this void, evolving from an informal forum into a structured NGO dedicated to the scientific documentation and celebration of our shared cultural roots.

Evolution of a Legacy

Over the decades, THAAP has expanded its horizon from localized architectural studies to a holistic cultural movement. The turning point came in 2010 with the launch of the first THAAP International Conference, which signaled our commitment to global scholarly exchange. Since then, the institution has grown to include specialized wings for Craft, Language, and Publication. Our history is marked by a relentless pursuit of authenticity, moving beyond the elite narratives of kings and monuments to embrace the stories of the common person and the craftsmanship of the marginalized.
