Traditionfor History, Art Architecture of Pakistan (THAAP)
THAAP, established in 2006, is registered as a not-for-profit Section 42 Company with the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). We are a dedicated forum of academics, professionals, and practitioners committed to improving the state of education, particularly in the fields of Art and Culture, through multi-disciplinary discourse and democratic practices.
Our Global Milestone
Pakistan’s Only UNESCO-Accredited NGO for ICH
THAAP holds the unique distinction of being the first and only UNESCO-accredited NGO in Pakistan under the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). Accredited in June 2018, THAAP provides advisory services to the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee, contributing expert knowledge to the global field of cultural heritage..

To foster a deep understanding of the history, art, and architecture of Pakistan. Through our publications, conferences, and field projects, we provide the tools and documentation necessary to protect our tangible and intangible heritage for future generations.

We envision a society that is culturally conscious and takes immense pride in its pluralistic history. Our goal is to make heritage a pillar of national development and a source of social cohesion.

Leadership & Expertise
Special Forte: Rehabilitation and conservation of heritage buildings like St. Hilda’s Hostel (1876), Kinnaird College (1913), and Cathedral Church, Lahore (1854).
Led by Prof. Sajida Haider Vandal and Prof. Pervaiz Vandal, THAAP is supported by a pool of experienced advisors, volunteers, and young researchers. Our leadership has extensive experience in the conservation of World Heritage Sites (WHS), including the Shalamar Gardens Lahore (a UNESCO-Getty Foundation initiative) and the Lahore Fort.
